Founded in Houston’s historic Fifth Ward—an area long impacted by poverty, crime, and limited opportunity—the Urban Enrichment Institute (UEI), formerly known as the Fifth Ward Enrichment Program (FWEP), was created to provide a powerful alternative for at-risk young men. In neighborhoods where gang violence, drug abuse, and high dropout rates are far too common, UEI offers a safe space for growth, guidance, and transformation.

Through consistent mentorship, academic support, therapeutic programming, and strong male role models, participants develop critical life skills and a renewed sense of purpose. They learn to value education, make responsible choices, and build healthy, respectful relationships—especially with women. Above all, UEI encourages every young man to see his life as sacred and his future as full of possibility.
